Connecting, collaborating and leading
Pacific policing excellence
PACPOL builds on the work of the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police (PICP) and the Pacific Policing Initiative (PPI) and represents the next stage of regional policing cooperation.
For more than 55 years, the PICP helped Pacific police services work together to build safer and more secure communities. During this time, Chiefs supported regional cooperation and developed initiatives such as the PPI. The PPI was created to strengthen Pacific-led policing capability, support a permanent multinational response group and improve regional coordination.
PACPOL brings together the foundations built through the PICP and the PPI. It supports stronger Pacific-led policing coordination, governance, capability development and engagement with international partners.
The move to PACPOL reflects the shared commitment by Pacific police leaders to strengthen regional cooperation. It also helps ensure that Pacific priorities and leadership remain at the centre of regional policing efforts.
As the transition to PACPOL continues, information on this website will be updated as governance arrangements, organisational developments and other information are endorsed.
During the transition period, the existing PICP Secretariat and PPI Development and Coordination Hub arrangements will continue to support regional policing cooperation, coordination, and the delivery of PACPOL activities and initiatives.
More information about future arrangements will be published once endorsed and are available for release.
